EVS v Hiši! - Joana Carmona

S prijavo na aprilski rok smo v okviru EVS (Evropske prostovoljske službe) omogočili eni prostovoljki neformalno izobraževanje v okviru mednarodnega prostovoljskega projekta.

Zdravo!

Since my arrival in Maribor on Thursday, 15th of September, everything is going perfectly. All the people from Hiša welcomed me with lots of smiles, hugs and food. In a friendly and relaxed environment, I knew from the very beginning that this place will be my new happy home for the next year. I am also lucky to be living in a house right next to the river, in the city centre, and to have a purple bike to ride around! Maribor is a lovely city, modern and still surrounded by such a delightful nature. It is a quiet, peaceful place to live in, with kind and genuine inhabitants.

After a couple of days in Maribor, I went to Ankaran for the on arrival training. I have to say that those days meant so much to me. I had the chance to meet so many wonderful people who I really felt connected with, just after one week together. I am so thankful that I had the pleasure to be a part of an experience of learning, sharing, growing, opening and feeling, and all this in a sunny place with sea and forest.

The training gave me lots of enthusiasm to start working and contributing with my ideas for the EVS project. Unfortunately, now that I was starting, I got tonsillitis and I have to be in bed with antibiotic. Everybody at Hiša were so comprehensive and helpful, bringing me to the hospital and worried about me, which makes me feel safe and at home.

I feel so happy that I am starting a new stage of my life in a beautiful country, surrounded by beautiful people.
